Pick Your Own
During Spring, Summer and Fall, Pick your own is open from 9 am – 6 pm daily.
At Braehead Farm we invite you to come and pick your own in season produce! When you arrive at the farm, please check in with us. During busy times we may have a field clerk or you can check in at the market. We have our own Braehead Farm tare (previously weighed) container (busket-cross between a bucket and a basket!). If you have Braehead Farm Logo containers or buskets from a previous visit, be sure to bring them. We charge $1.00 for this busket. We also have flats with 8-quart containers that are previously weighed in our register too. These are $3.00 each.
We ask that our PICK YOUR OWN customers PAY for the produce BEFORE eating the produce since all of our produce is sold BY THE POUND.
ASPARAGUS… we have pre-picked asparagus in the Market! Asparagus is the only crop we grow that is NOT pick-your-own. We also have SWEET POTATOES in the Market!

Braehead Farm Pick-Your-Own berries: Come and have fun picking…but, from past experience, we have just a few rules to mention…
- Check in with the market upon your arrival, our staff will give instruction on the fields to go to and the rules.
- You will be handed a “Busket” (basket/bucket) to use (see below) **
- Stay in your rows and do not allow children to run back and forth across the rows, trampling the plants.
- Pick only the RED strawberries, the BLACK blackberries, DEEP RED raspberries. The berries do not continue to ripen after picking! You will be expected to pay for what you pick.
- Make sure the strawberries are pinched off behind the strawberry cap on the stem with your thumb and finger. Do not PULL the berries off the vine, as this will pull the plants.
- The berries (as well as all of our produce) are sold by the pound. The berries must be weighed and purchased before eating.
**Please check in with the Market when you arrive to get a “busket”(basket/bucket!). This is a 4 quart busket. 1 quart is equal to about 1.5 pounds of strawberries, so the busket will hold about 5.5 to 6 pounds. The busket has air holes on the sides so that the berries in the middle can get air to them. The berries will need cool air or they will deteriorate. (Please do not leave them in your car after your purchase!) This busket is pre-weighed in our system so that when you bring in your picked berries, the scale will deduct the weight of the busket so that you will not be paying for the weight of the busket. This busket can be used for any Pick Your Own at Braehead Farm! Just bring it back with you! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND PUTING THE BERRIES IN PLASTIC BAGS! If you bring your own bucket, we will not be able to take the weight of your bucket off of the price of your berries.
We charge $1.00 for the busket if you would like to keep it. We recommend the busket for all berry purchases to keep your berries in and keep them fresher and aerated. Do not wash your berries until you get ready to eat them. Just store them in your refrigerator in the busket until you are ready to wash and eat them!
(We also have 8 quart flats with eight quart containers already in them. This is also preweighed in our computer. These are $3.00 each to keep)
